DeANGELO ANNOUNCES "FLEET WEEK" BUS TRIP FOR 14TH DISTRICT VETERANS

‘A Memorial Day Celebration of Our Veterans’ to Tour Naval Vessel in New York Harbor

(HAMILTON TWP.) – During “Fleet Week 2017,” Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo will be hosting a free trip for veterans and active duty military members to tour a United States Naval Vessel in New York Harbor. The day trip to Manhattan will include a 40-minute guided tour of a full sized ship that includes discussion of military capabilities of it as well as life of the sailors who served on ships similar to it.

“For our veterans and active duty military members coming together on this trip, it will bring back vivid memories of their time serving our country and specific experiences shared with their fellow service members. I am hoping that this trip brings a new day full of memories as we honor our service members in advance of Memorial Day,” said DeAngelo who serves as vice-chairman of the Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

The trip called “A Memorial Day Celebration of Our Veterans” will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2017 just days before our nation celebrates Memorial Day. Those joining in on the trip will need to arrive at the Robbinsville Senior Center located at 117 Route 130 in Robbinsville before 10:30 am. The buses will promptly depart at 11:0 am to arrive for an early afternoon tour of the naval vessel. After the tour and time sight-seeing, the tour will depart to return back to the senior center before approximately 4:30 pm.

“There are extraordinary members of the military and veterans living throughout the 14th District. Putting together this excursion is my small thank you to them as way to honor and respect their experiences and dedication to service to our country,” DeAngelo added.

Participation in the trip is open to residents of the 14th Legislative District which consists of Hamilton Township, East Windsor, Hightstown, Robbinsville, Monroe Township, Jamesburg, Plainsboro, Spotswood and Cranbury.

Because of the construction of the naval vessel that participants will be touring, they will need to be able to comfortably climb stairs or ladders in the ship. They also will need to bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy while on the bus traveling to Manhattan.

To register, call Assemblyman DeAngelo’s office at (609) 631-7501, email via AsmDeAngelo@njleg.org, or visit the district outreach office located at 4621A Nottingham Way in Hamilton. Those interested are asked to register before May 12, 2017 as space will be limited.
