DeAngelo Named Deputy Speaker of General Assembly

Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto has appointed Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo to the post of deputy speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly.

DeAngelo, of Hamilton, was first sworn into the General Assembly in January 2008.

“True leadership begins with prioritizing service and having a forward-looking, unbreakable belief that we can make life better for New Jersey’s families,” said Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen). “In his roles as chair of the Telecommunications and Utilities Committee and vice-chair of the Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Wayne has proven his capacity to solve problems as well as his dedication to his district and this state. I have full confidence that he will continue to bring that energy to his new role as deputy speaker.”

“I am honored to have the support of Speaker Prieto in becoming deputy speaker, and I look forward to continued work with him and all of our colleagues in the legislature as we advance our shared goal of creating a better New Jersey,” said DeAngelo (D-Mercer/Middlesex).

DeAngelo, a graduate of Steinert High School in Hamilton, received his journeymanship in electrical trades from the Rupert John Trade School. He is assistant business manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 269.

DeAngelo and his wife, Toni, have two daughters: Natalie and Julia.

He represents the 14th Legislative District, which includes the Mercer County municipalities of East Windsor, Hamilton, Hightstown and Robbinsville and the Middlesex County municipalities of Cranbury, Jamesburg, Monroe, Plainsboro and Spotswood.
