DeAngelo Statement on Budget Address

(TRENTON) – Assembly Deputy Speaker Wayne P. DeAngelo (D-Mercer/Middlesex) released the following the statement:

“It is particularly encouraging to hear the call to rebuild our State ‘on the shoulders of our union brothers and sisters’ who are critical to moving our economy forward.

“The commitment to increasing funding for public schools that will help to lower property taxes, raising the minimum wage, creating a path to a community college education, and expanding workforce development program will put New Jersey on a positive path to lifting up middle-class families. These are bold goals but the working-class needs to be our top priority.

“Furthermore, I am also pleased to see the commitment to making a $3.2 billion payment to the state’s pension system that public employees have been paying their fair share in to despite years of state under funding. We have a long way to go to securing the pension system but this is a positive step.”
