Residents Asked to Donate Blankets, Clothes, Non-Perishable Food and Cleaning Products for Families Devastated by Superstorm Sandy; Continues to Assist Residents Dealing with Power Outages
As families across New Jersey continue to face aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo (D-Hamilton) has teamed with the American Red Cross to establish a donation center located at his district office to collect necessary items to help those most severely affected by the storm.
DeAngelo said his office will be collecting blankets, clothing, non-perishable food, children’s items, and cleaning products. Items donated will be brought to the American Red Cross centers to be distributed to those in need.
“For so many families, recovery from Superstorm Sandy will take months. Their needs will range from trying to keep warm still living in shelters to putting food on their tables to getting a roof over their head to cleaning up when they can get back to their homes,” said DeAngelo (D-Hamilton). “I encourage folks who have been able to get back to a bit of ‘normal life’ will open their hearts and donate what they can to help Superstorm Sandy victims.”
Items can be donated by dropping them off at DeAngelo’s constituent outreach center located at The Shoppes at Nottingham Pointe at 4621A Nottingham Way in Hamilton.
“The recovery efforts are far from. For small jersey shores towns such as Sea Bright and others that have been virtually destroyed by the storm, the residents will need the assistance of their fellow New Jerseyans for some time. My office will continue to serve as a Red Cross donation center as long as there is still a need, and I applaud them for their tremendous work to help those devastated by this natural disaster,” said DeAngelo.
DeAngelo added that he has been working to troubleshoot continued power outages in communities throughout the 14th District which consists of part of Mercer and Middlesex counties. The Assemblyman’s district office also remained open on Election Day — despite the state holiday designation — in order to address concerns of local residents affect by the storm.
