DIEGNAN PRAISES OBAMA ADMINISTRATION FOR NAMING NEW JERSEY AS FINALIST FOR SCHOOL FUNDING

Assembly Education Committee Chair Patrick J. Diegnan, Jr. today welcomed the news that New Jersey is one of 19 finalists nationwide selected for round two of the federal Race to the Top school funding program.

“President Obama has made education a top priority of his administration. He recognizes that proper funding is an essential element of providing a quality education for all citizens of the United States. The President’s approach is in stark contrast with the devastating cuts in state aid to education which were part of Governor Christie’s budget. Let us hope that we are ultimately successful in obtaining Race to the Top funding so that our state can continue to be recognized as having one of the finest K-16 education systems in the nation.”
