Eustace on Additional $72 Million Settlement with Volkswagen over Clean Air Violations

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Tim Eustace (D-Bergen, Passaic) issued the following statement on Tuesday regarding the recent announcement of the additional settlement fund the state received from Volkswagen over clean air violations:

“This is good news for New Jersey. Now we must make sure the money is spent responsibly to ensure greater protection of public health, our environment and our residents.

“I’ve said this all along. Any revenue from legal settlements related to environmental violations should be used solely for the restoration and preservation of the State’s natural resources.
“Voters overwhelmingly supported public question number 2 on November 7th. Settlement money should no longer be used for any other purpose than helping to right the wrongs made by environmental contamination.”
