Eustace to Lead Assembly Environment Committee

38th Legislative District Assemblyman Appointed to Chair Legislative Panel

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto announced on Tuesday Assemblyman Timothy Eustace will take the lead of the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee for the remainder of the 217th legislative session.

“Eustace has spent much of his legislative career championing important environmental issues which have promoted renewable energy initiatives and increased protection of the state’s natural resources,” said Prieto (D-Bergen, Hudson). “I am confident in his ability to lead the Assembly environment panel on the critical issues affecting New Jersey and its residents.”

Eustace is sponsor of numerous environmental legislation concerning the transport of parts and products of certain animal at PANYNJ airports and port facilities, establishing home elevation fund to help residents rebuilding their homes along the New Jersey shore and urging Congress to enact the Water Quality investment act to protect our national water resources. In addition, Eustace was the sponsor of the bill that would permit electric cars to be sold directly to consumers.

Eustace has also raised awareness of the decline of the monarch butterfly species by introducing legislation that would establish the Milkweed for Monarchs program within the Department of Environmental Protection. The bill would allow for the adoption of state-owned stormwater management basins for the purpose of planting milkweed and created monarch habitats.

“It is an honor to be appointed to serve as chair of the Assembly Environment Committee,” said Eustace (D-Bergen, Passaic). “There are many important issues we have to tackle as a panel during the remaining days of the session. I look forward to the challenge and the debate as we work together to strengthen environmental protections throughout the state.”

Eustace serves on the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee as Vice -Chair, the Commerce and Economic Development Committee and the State and Local Government Committee. He has been a member of the General Assembly for four years and has served as the Assembly Deputy Conference Leader since 2014.

Eustace represents the 38th Legislative District, which encompasses parts of Bergen and Passaic counties including, Bergenfield, Fair lawn, Glen rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Hawthorne, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park and Saddle Brook.
