Eustace & Wagner Issue Statement in Response to State of State

Emphasizes Importance of Addressing State’s Sky-High Unemployment Rate and Low Minimum Wage

(Trenton) Assembly Democrats Timothy Eustace and Connie Wagner issued the following statements on the Governor’s State of the State address held today in the Assembly Chambers:

Assemblyman Eustace: “The task at hand is to devise a plan for legislative action on job creation and training, supporting small business, Hurricane Sandy funding for our coastline communities and enacting a minimum wage law that allows for cost of living increases. We simply cannot address just one of these issues and ignore the rest. A comprehensive approach is needed to jump start the economy and to begin to rebuild New Jersey.

Assemblywoman Wagner: “Clearly, in the months ahead, we will tackle more than a few tough issues. These will undoubtedly become defining moments in the economic future of our state. The task of rebuilding New Jersey’s coastline, getting residents back to work and earning more are our top priorities. I hope that the line drawn in the aisle separating parties will fade for the sole purpose of working together to build New Jersey business, create jobs and restore dignity to our minimum wage process. There’s so much to be done.”
