CAMDEN – Assemblyman Angel Fuentes (D-Camden/Gloucester) has issued the following statement following yesterday’s report of a fatal all-terrain vehicle accident at the corner of Pine Street and Memorial Avenue in Camden City:
“My heartfelt condolences go out to the family mourning the loss of their loved one today. It was a tragic loss of life, especially given how young the victim was. I am also keeping in my thoughts and prayers the young woman currently in critical condition as a result of this accident.
“This unfortunate occurrence shows the dire need to reform our current ATV laws and why I have sponsored legislation to do just that. It is my hope that by increasing the penalties for violating the laws we have in place and through strengthening the safeguards to protect against illegally obtaining ATVs, we can deter people from misusing these vehicles. I look forward to working with community groups like Camden’s District Council Collaborative Boards and others throughout the state to prevent more needless tragedies.”
