GORDON, WAGNER, & EUSTACE APPLAUD WESTWOOD MAYOR’S EFFORTS TO REOPEN PASCACK VALLEY HOSPITAL AS HUMC NORTH

Senator Bob Gordon and Assembly members Connie Wagner and Tim Eustace applauded the efforts by Westwood Mayor John Birkner that have led to the reopening of Pascack Valley Hospital as HUMC-North.

The hospital closed in 2007, and in 2009 eight municipalities, including Oradell in the 38th District, had successful referendums in support of reopening a hospital at the site.

Senator Bob Gordon applauded John Birkner saying, “I praise him for reaching out to not only his constituents, but the people in the surrounding Pascack Valley towns. He saw a need that was not being met and he took it upon himself to get the word out on the importance of having a hospital in the area.”

Assemblywoman Connie Wagner said, “An underserved area of Bergen County will now have greater access to healthcare. With the rebirth of Pascack Hospital the area in and around Westwood will be revitalized thanks to hundreds of construction and healthcare jobs.”

Assemblyman Timothy Eustace noted, “The people of Oradell and several other communities are finally having their voice heard after a long process. Mayor Birkner has accomplished a great service for the people of Bergen County.”
