GREENSTEIN & DeANGELO: CHRISTIE PRIVATIZATION PLAN A RETURN TO FAILED POLICIES OF THE PAST

(14th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT) — Assemblywoman Linda R. Greenstein and Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo on Friday said the privatization report unveiled by Gov. Chris Christie’s administration represents a return to failed Republican policies.

“The inept privatization plans pushed by Republicans in the 1990s cost taxpayers dearly through increased costs and ineffective services, but apparently Gov. Christie failed to learn from those mistakes and is returning to a policy that will cost taxpayers,” said Greenstein (D-Middlesex/Mercer). “It would be irresponsible to make the same mistakes twice that will cost taxpayers exponentially more money.”

“Privatization of significant state services will result in more tax and fee hikes on working class New Jerseyans,” said DeAngelo (D-Mercer/Middlesex). “By privatizing these services, we are putting more people on the unemployment line and asking residents struggling to pay their bills to pay more for every day services while private companies make a profit.”
