GREENSTEIN: TODAY’S VOTE MAKES CLEAR GOP PREFERS TAX CUTS FOR MILLIONAIRES OVER PROPERTY TAX HELP FOR SENIORS

(TRENTON) — Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein (D-Middlesex/Mercer), the sponsor of legislation (A-20) that would have eliminated Gov. Christie’s cuts to property tax relief for senior and disabled citizens and guaranteed the elimination of new and increased prescription drug fees, released the following statement Monday on the Republican failure to override Gov. Christie’s veto:

“I would have expected my Republican colleagues to protect lower-income senior and disabled citizens with the same zealousness in which they protect millionaires, but apparently that was too much to expect.

“Today’s vote is a sad day for New Jersey, but it at least we now know where everybody stands. This vote made clear that Republicans prefer tax cuts for millionaires over property tax relief for senior citizens.”
