GREENWALD: BLAMING WEATHER FOR POOR REVENUE COLLECTIONS IS LIKE BLAMING THE DOG FOR EATING HOMEWORK

(TRENTON) – Assembly Budget Chairman Lou Greenwald (D-Camden) released the following statement Wednesday on the Treasury Department’s October revenue figures and its weather-related excuses:

“The treasurer blaming poor revenue collections on the weather is like a child blaming the dog for eating his homework. That excuse wouldn’t fly with a teacher and it won’t work for taxpayers, either.
“If the best they can do is blame the weather, then it’s no wonder hard-working men and women in New Jersey continue to struggle to make ends meet.
“The reality is that, unfortunately, figures like these are to be expected until the governor joins Democrats in focusing on job creation and economic growth.”
