Greenwald: Christie Disregard for Middle-Class Apparent in his ‘Diatribe’ Comment

(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-Camden/Burlington) released the following statement Thursday after Gov. Chris Christie called his cordial Wednesday discussion about middle-class property tax relief with a Hamilton family a “diatribe:”

“The governor says I’m obsessed, and he’s right. I’m obsessed with providing a 20 percent property tax relief credit to middle-class families and a 25 percent property tax relief credit to senior citizens across New Jersey.
“I will not rest until the governor starts to focus attention on what matters to New Jersey residents who have endured his net 20 percent property tax hike, not on national Republicans and his own ambitions.
“While I’m listening to middle-class families like the Castellanos, the governor only listens to millionaires whose tax breaks he’s protected.
“The governor somehow – and appallingly – calls it a ‘diatribe’ to listen to constituents like the Castellanos tell us about their daily struggles.
“I call it doing my job.”
