Greenwald Statement on Continued Closure of Atlantic City Rail Line by NJ Transit

(TRENTON) – In response to today’s announcement by Governor Phil Murphy that funds from a financial settlement will be reinvested into existing and future Northeast Corridor infrastructure projects, Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald released the following statement:

“While investing the settlement funds in enhancements for commuters into and out of New York Penn Station is appropriate and should be applauded, it is appalling that the Governor and New Jersey transit are no closer to reopening the Atlantic City Rail Line, the Princeton Shuttle or the direct Raritan Valley Line,” said Greenwald (D-Camden, Burlington). “Thousands of New Jersey commuters have been negatively impacted and inconvenienced by the rail line closures. They need and want answers and they deserve respect. There is nothing stopping the Governor from directing New Jersey Transit to reopen the rail lines immediately. He should do just that.”
