Greenwald Will Speak at One Million Moms for Gun Control Rally in Jersey City This Weekend

Rally is one of many organized by local chapters around the country to coincide with national One Million Moms for Gun Control March in Washington DC

(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-Camden/Burlington) will join the national call for tougher gun safety laws this weekend when he speaks at the local One Million Moms for Gun Control Rally in Jersey City on Saturday, January 26.

“The tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown was absolutely devastating. While the headlines about this tragic and senseless shooting may have waned, the urgency for protecting our communities from gun violence has not,” said Greenwald. “Preventing senseless gun violence is an issue that must be confronted in a comprehensive way, and President Obama has been a leader in setting the stage for stronger federal gun safety measures. It is up to us to keep the momentum going and keep the pressure on our representatives in Washington to make sure they put the safety of our children first and implement the policies that will help prevent the next tragedy.”

The rally, organized by the New Jersey Chapter and the City of Jersey City, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lincoln Park at the intersection of West Side and Belmont avenues. The rally is one of many organized by local chapters around the country to coincide with the march in Washington, D.C., and bring wider attention to the need for tougher national and state gun safety laws.
