Gusciora and Eustace Applaud SCOTUS for Declining to Hear Challenge to NJ’s Conversion Therapy Ban

Assemblymen Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) and Tim Eustace (D-Bergen/Passaic) applauded the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday for declining to hear a challenge to the law they sponsored that bans conversion therapy in New Jersey (King v. Governor of New Jersey).

“I applaud the Supreme Court’s ruling today. This is a victory for all the children throughout this country who are continuously being told they should be somebody else. I also applaud Gov. Christie for bucking the trend of his party and paving the way for this legislation to become law in New Jersey. While the matter might be settled legally, we still have a lot more work to do to convert some hearts and minds across this country,” said Gusciora.

“Today’s decision puts the legal challenges to rest once and for all and ensures that this law will remain intact in New Jersey. We’ve witnessed far too many tragic endings to stories of young LGBT people that began with conversion therapy. The Supreme Court’s decision today will ensure that no young person in New Jersey is subjected to this unfounded and cruel practice,” said Eustace.
