Gusciora Welcomes Medical Marijuana Progress but Says Getting All Six Centers Up and Running is Crucial

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer/Hunterdon), sponsor of the legislation authorizing a medical marijuana program in New Jersey, released the following statement Tuesday regarding the state issuing the first permit to a Montclair center to operate as a medical marijuana dispensary:

“This long-sought progress is surely welcome news for the patients who have been waiting far too long for this program to become reality, but continued vigilance is also needed until the center actually opens its doors. We’ve had already enough bureaucratic obstacles to getting this program running, so let’s finally get this center open for the benefit of patients.
“Hopefully, though, this is a sign of good things to come as we await more details on the opening of the other five dispensaries. This program will only be successful if patients from throughout our state have reasonable access to this treatment, so it’s crucial to see more progress soon on the other five locations.”
