With the goal for certain wineries to continue supplementing their revenue by hosting events, legislation (A-2775) sponsored by Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling (D-Monmouth) to permanently adopt a 2014 pilot program that permitted wineries on preserved farmland to host special events was approved Thursday by the Assembly Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
Assemblyman Houghtaling released the following statement:
“We’ve seen wineries on preserved farmland have great success under the State’s current pilot program. Hosting food truck festivals, social outings and other events are a great way for wineries to promote their products and engage with their communities. This program should be made permanent so that wineries may continue growing beyond the vineyards.”
