Houghtaling & Downey on Additional Education Funding for NJ Preschools

(TRENTON) – In response to Governor Phil Murphy’s announcement of a second round of Preschool Education Expansion Aid (PEEA) funding for 33 school districts in New Jersey to enhance and expand preschool education programs, Assembly members Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey released the following statement:

“The importance of high quality preschool education cannot be understated,” said Houghtaling (D-Monmouth). “Research shows students who attend preschool build the skills they need to help them succeed academically and socially in elementary school and beyond. By investing in our young children’s learning, we can help set them on a path to reach their fullest potential. I’m proud three school districts in Monmouth County – Eatontown, Lake Como, and Neptune City – were selected to receive some of this important funding.”

“All parents want the absolute best for their children, including the very best education,” said Downey (D-Monmouth). “With this $27 million dedicated to preschool expansion, we are making our education system in New Jersey more comprehensive and valuable for our children, who deserve every opportunity for academic success. Any investment in our children’s futures is an investment worth making.”
