(TRENTON) – Assemblymen Eric Houghtaling, Anthony Verrelli and Adam Taliaferro issued the following statements on the advancement of their bill (A-4735) out of the Assembly Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Thursday, which appropriates $1,591,000 from constitutionally dedicated corporate business tax (CBT) revenues to the State Agriculture Development Committee for Grants to certain nonprofits dedicated to land conservation:
Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling (D-Monmouth): “Without the support of vital nonprofit groups working to make New Jersey’s farmlands the best in the country, our agriculture industry would not be able to thrive. It is important to support these organizations in their efforts to preserve our farmlands so our agricultural sector can remain strong for years to come.”
Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli (D-Mercer/Hunterdon): “The work nonprofits do in keeping New Jersey’s farmlands in pristine condition cannot be stressed enough. They are a key reason for the success of our agriculture industry, and supporting these organizations will benefit all New Jerseyans.”
Assemblyman Adam Taliaferro (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland): “These funds will help nonprofits buy and develop lands which will be utilized to provide food for New Jersey’s residents. By supporting these organizations, we are supporting each and every resident of our state.”
