JOHNSON: FARE INCREASES JUST ANOTHER TAX ON WORKING FAMILIES

(TRENTON) — Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-Bergen) released the following statement Monday as the Assembly Budget Committee heard Gov. Chris Christie’s plans for transportation spending:

“It’s disappointing to hear that more wasn’t done by the Christie administration to avoid the recently approved 22 percent fare increase.

“Consider that most NJ Transit riders are bus customers, with 87 percent of those bus customers earning less than $50,000 per household.

“It’s clear that this fare increase is just another tax on New Jersey’s hard-working families.”
