Johnson: Governor’s Fixation on Tax Cuts that Benefit the Wealthy Again Misses the Point

(37th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT) – Assembly Majority Conference Leader Gordon Johnson (D-Bergen) released the following statement Wednesday on Gov. Chris Christie’s touting tax cuts that benefit the rich over the middle-class during a visit to Palisades Park:

“The governor is always welcome to pay a visit to the district I’m honored to represent. Unfortunately, Gov. Christie still doesn’t get it with his fixation on tax breaks that benefit the rich while middle-class families struggle with the nation’s highest property taxes.
“Net property taxes are 20 percent higher under Gov. Christie, yet the governor is focusing on an income tax scheme that benefits the wealthy and does little for middle-class and lower-income families.
“Republicans leapt out of their seats on Tuesday to celebrate tax cuts for millionaires, but Democrats are focused on working families.
“Our goal must be middle-class property tax relief.”
