Johnson: Senator Lautenberg, A True Political Icon

(ENGLEWOOD) – New Jersey Assembly Majority Conference Leader Gordon Johnson (D-Bergen) released the following statement Monday upon the passing of U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg:

“Today, New Jersey has lost a true political icon with the passing of Senator Frank Lautenberg.

“A tireless advocate for New Jersey’s children and families, Senator Lautenberg created a rich legacy from which our state and, I’m certain, all of America will reap the rewards for a long time to come.

“Senator Lautenberg’s life and career are lessons in perseverance and ingenuity. His success is a blueprint for current and future elected officials who are forging a path in public service and working to make New Jersey better for all.

“He spent an honorable life as the most dedicated public servant to the people of this country during World War II and to the people of this state through five terms in the U.S. Senate.

“We could not have known a more devoted politician and friend to New Jersey.”
