Johnson Statement on NJ Legislature’s First Remote Video Committee Hearing

Assembly Commerce Panel Approves Five Coronavirus Relief Bills

The Assembly Commerce Committee Thursday conducted the first remote video hearing in the history of New Jersey. Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-Bergen), the chairman of the committee, issued the following statement:

“We made history today. I’m proud to have chaired the state’s first remote video hearing and I’d like to thank all of my colleagues on the committee for their hard work and dedication to helping New Jersey’s nine million residents during the current public health crisis.

“The work of elected officials must go on during this pandemic. Developments in technology allow us to continue doing the people’s work in an open and transparent way. That’s good government at its best.

“The Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Craig Coughlin, will carry on its work as we pursue all avenues through which we can help our residents and businesses in every way possible.”
