“Businesses such as Uber and Lyft use apps to connect passengers with drivers paid to give rides in their personal cars. These transportation network companies, or TNCs, have apps with features such as tracking driver location and online payment, allowing them to provide services in a convenient way.
“I admire the modernization TNCs are bringing to transportation and salute their innovative spirit, but those benefits don’t excuse these companies from an obligation to conduct business safely…”
