LAMPITT: AUDIT OF RUTGERS CONTRACTING PRACTICES SHOWS NEED FOR LEGISLATIVE REVIEW

(TRENTON) — After an audit published Wednesday by the Office of the State Comptroller on Rutgers University’s contracting practices found that the state university does not publicly advertise most contracts and frequently awards the work to the same small pool of vendors, Assembly Higher Education Committee Chairwoman Pamela R. Lampitt issued the following statement:

“While it is encouraging that Rutgers is working to comply with most of the comptroller’s recommendations, a thorough review of the comptroller’s audit will be necessary to see if codifying his office’s recommendations will help to level the playing field and better protect our tax dollars going forward.”
