Legislation Increasing Transparency of Prescription Drug Pricing Passes Assembly Committee

With significant increases in prescription drug pricing every year, legislation aimed at promoting transparency in the state’s pharmaceutical industry passed the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee on Thursday. Sponsor of the bill (A-5449/S-2389) Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (D-Union) released the following statement:

“This bill would require pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to report the list price of their prescription drugs to the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy so that it can be published online. Nearly half of all Americans need at least one prescription medication at any given time. So it’s important for drug pricing information to be made available to prescribing practitioners in order to increase transparency in an area that greatly impacts the lives of many citizens.”
