Greenstein/DeAngelo/Benson to Hold Information Sessions at Local Libraries to Provide Information on State Services; Assistance with Energy and ‘Senior Freeze’ Program
(HAMILTON TWP.) — While many New Jerseyans are heading to their local library for a good book to read on vacation and students check-out books on their summer reading lists, 14th District lawmakers will be holding outreach events at local libraries to offer information about available state programs and offer direct assistance on individual matters of concern.
Senator Linda Greenstein (D-Plainsboro) and Assemblymen Wayne P. DeAngelo and Daniel R. Benson (both D-Hamilton) will host a 16-visit series of Library Legislative Outreach Days at public libraries throughout the 14th District to provide information on programs ranging from the “Senior Freeze” property tax relief program for senior citizen and disabled homeowners to home energy assistance for low-income families.
“I know that there is no summer recess for working families in these trying times,” said DeAngelo “Our local libraries are at the heart of many activities in our communities. That’s why there’s no better place for my staff and I to go to lend an ear to listen to the concerns of my constituents and offer a helping hand if one is needed. While my office’s doors are always open to constituents who need assistance, I know that it’s important for our representatives to constantly be in community centers offering a helping hand on all sorts of matters important to them”
“There’s no better place than our local libraries to offer a convenient location for citizens who need help with an issue or just want to voice their concerns to meet with us and our staff,” said Benson. “I look forward to seeing our constituents at the library this summer.”
“As legislators, our duty is to both ensure the continuation of critical services like the Senior Freeze program and to also help our constituents access these programs by walking them through the application process,” said Greenstein. “Our job as legislators is to arm our seniors with as much information as possible to complete the Senior Freeze applications.”
