Lopez Denounces Trump Administration Delaying Food Stamp Aid for Puerto Rico

Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (D-Middlesex) released the following statement on recent reports that the Trump administration has not given $600 million in food stamp aid to Puerto Rico over two weeks after the president signed emergency funding legislation into law:

“As a proud Puerto Rican woman, my heart breaks for the people of Puerto Rico who are at risk of going hungry as result of the Trump administration’s recklessness. More than one million residents who depend on the food stamp program are suffering, and it’s outrageous that they have yet to be helped. Allocating disaster aid means absolutely nothing if the aid never reaches the people who need it most. I stand with Puerto Rico in demanding the Trump administration fix this problem immediately.”
