Lopez Joins Menendez in Urging Congress to Create National Latino Museum in Washington D.C.

(TRENTON) – Following U.S. Senator Bob Menendez’s testimony on Capitol Hill today urging the U.S. Senate to pass his legislation authorizing the Smithsonian Institution to create a museum honoring Latino Americans, Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (D-Middlesex) released the following statement in support of his efforts:

“Museums on the National Mall are meant to represent our rich history and the people who’ve shaped our nation. It’s unfortunate and unacceptable that the 60 million Latino Americans here today and all who came before them are not represented on the National Mall. I applaud Senator Menendez for bringing attention to this important issue, and join him in urging the Senate to follow in the footsteps of the House of Representatives in passing this legislation.”
