Lopez Statement on New Deadline to Complete 2020 Census

(TRENTON) –Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (D-Middlesex) released the following statement on the U.S. Census Bureau’s decision to comply with a federal ruling and extend the deadline to complete the 2020 Census to October 31st:

“I applaud Judge Lucy Koh for holding the Trump Administration and the U.S. Census Bureau accountable for her ruling to continue the Census count through October 31, 2020. No other Census has been politicized and attacked as dramatically as the 2020 Census, and the additional days we now have will make a measurable impact on our results. As New Jersey continues its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and prepares for an uncertain future, an accurate Census count will be vital. It is up to every single New Jerseyan to be accounted for so that our State gets its fair share.”
