Mazzeo & Armato Call on Governor to Reopen Atlantic City Rail Line

Expanding efforts to get the Atlantic City Rail Line back up and running following the successful installation of positive train control, Assemblymen Vince Mazzeo and John Armato released the following statement urging Governor Phil Murphy to reopen the rail line:

“The Governor often emphasizes that as the most densely populated state in the nation, New Jersey needs to ensure people can get where they need to go,” said Mazzeo (D-Atlantic). “Well, that’s certainly not happening for so many residents of Atlantic County. The Governor should do everything in his power to reopen the Atlantic City Rail Line, starting with directing NJ Transit to restore service for the thousands of residents who depend on it.”
“Transportation is largely tied to quality of life for New Jersey commuters; for the workers who have seen their commutes nearly triple without the Atlantic City Rail Line, their quality of life was severely impacted,” said Armato (D-Atlantic). “The Governor must know how badly South Jersey commuters are struggling. If NJ Transit won’t open the rail line on its own, the Governor should use his authority over the agency to get the Atlantic City line back open.”
