Mazzeo Named New Assembly State and Local Government Committee Chairman

Speaker Coughlin Cites his Wide-Ranging Experience & Expertise

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin has named Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo as the new Assembly State and Local Government Committee chairman.
Mazzeo (D-Atlantic) will oversee the committee that focuses on policy and legislation that impact state government, counties and municipalities. Coughlin said Mazzeo’s tenure as a Northfield mayor, council president and councilman, combined with his experience as a local business owner – he’s the owner of the B.F. Mazzeo Fruit & Produce, his family business that’s been a staple in Atlantic County for almost 60 years – make him a perfect fit for the committee’s chairmanship.
“Assemblyman Mazzeo has proven himself to be a great leader with a keen eye for the impact policy and legislation has on state and local governments,” said Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “Vince is always keeping an eye out for how legislation will impact property taxpayers – and always working to find ways to ease that burden on hard-working families. He’s going to be a great fit for this committee.”
Mazzeo joined the Assembly in 2014 and is now serving his third-term representing the 2nd Legislative District, where he has helped spearhead efforts to revitalize and stabilize Atlantic City, and he’s worked to lower the property tax burden on hard-working families and small businesses.
“Local government, in particular, can often fall victim to poor state policy and planning, and that’s something we must always be aware of going forward,” Mazzeo said. “We must make sure that property taxpayers are always protected, and that our state and local government policies are based on common sense. I am grateful to Speaker Coughlin for his confidence in me, and I look forward to using this key platform to advocate for good, smarter government in the years ahead.”
