Mazzeo & Pinkin Bill to Facilitate Contributions to WWII Veterans’ Memorial Fund Clears Committee

Legislation Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo and Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin sponsored to make it easier for New Jersey residents to make voluntary taxpayer contributions to honor World War II veterans was advanced Monday by an Assembly committee.

The bill (A-445) would allow New Jersey residents to contribute to the New Jersey World War II Veterans’ Memorial Fund via their gross income tax returns. The fund provides financial support for the World War II Memorial across from the statehouse in Trenton.

“New Jersey residents recognize the sacrifice of World War II veterans and want to honor the heroes who served,” said Mazzeo (D-Atlantic). “Making it easier for people to contribute to the World War II Veterans’ Memorial Fund will help ensure that generations to come respect veterans’ efforts to secure the greatest military victory in United States history.”

“Justice and freedom won along with the Allied forces during World War II. Preserving the World War II Veterans’ Memorial is about preserving our faith in, and commitment to, those ideals,” said Pinkin (D-Middlesex). “With a new means of giving to this worthy cause, more New Jersey residents will consider making a contribution and keeping the memory of World War II veterans alive long into the future.”

The measure was advanced by the Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
