Mazzeo Statement on Assembly Approving Revised Casino Property Tax Stabilization Act

(TRENTON) — Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo (D-Atlantic) released the following statement after the Assembly voted 50-9-2 to approve legislation (A-4931) to revise the Casino Property Tax Stabilization Act — legislation that will stop the fiscal bleeding in Atlantic City:

“The bipartisan legislation passed tonight allows us to provide economic security to Atlantic County’s residents in a time of uncertainty. We can now hopefully provide property tax stability once and for all and continue our efforts to boost Atlantic County’s economy.

“Approving it now represents certainty for Atlantic City and Atlantic County’s hard-working middle-class families, seniors and small businesses who have been crushed by casino tax appeals over the last decade. Now is the time for strong leadership in Atlantic City and Atlantic County — and it starts with continuing to protect the bank accounts of our hard-working residents.

“This has always been about property tax relief for Atlantic County’s families.”
