Mazzeo, Sweeney & Whelan Seek Action on Atlantic County Foreclosure Crisis

(TRENTON) — Acting in response to an acute foreclosure crisis in Atlantic City and Atlantic County, Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo, Senate President Steve Sweeney & Senator Jim Whelan sent a letter to Commissioner Charles Richman, of the Department of Community Affairs, and Anthony Marchetta, the executive director of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, asking both agencies to act swiftly to help distressed homeowners.

According to news accounts, one in every 258 homes in the county is in the process of foreclosure.

The legislators also asked for an accounting of assistance that has been provided through the various state and federal programs designed to help homeowners facing foreclosure.
