Mazzeo Welcomes NBA Commissioner’s Call for Legalized Regulated Sports Gaming

(ATLANTIC CITY) – Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo (D-Atlantic) issued the following statement this morning following NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s op-ed in The New York Times supporting legalized and regulated sports gaming:

“Commissioner Silver’s op-ed is a huge step in the right direction for sports wagering in New Jersey. I’m happy to see that the NBA has seen the common sense wisdom of a legalized and regulated sports wagering industry, which is exactly what New Jersey is trying to offer.
“New Jersey voters overwhelmingly supported sports wagering for our casino industry and the economic benefits for Atlantic City that would come with it. Legalized sports wagering will have a great impact in helping Atlantic City transition into the resort destination we know it can become.
“I call on Congress to heed both Commissioner Silver’s call and the state’s plea for legalized sports gaming. Until then, I continue to support New Jersey pursuing its legal rights to offer regulated sports gaming and the economic benefits it will bring.”
