Assemblywoman to represent Legislative District 31
(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato on Tuesday received the oath of office from Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin to become a member of the New Jersey General Assembly. McCann Stamato’s many years of public service in Hudson County will be an asset as she represents Legislative District 31.
“I want to extend a warm welcome to Barbara as she joins the General Assembly,” said Speaker Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “Her unique perspective and innovative ideas will help enrich our discussions as she contributes her vast wealth of knowledge to our decision-making process.”
McCann Stamato is a dedicated public servant with an extensive background in legislative leadership. She currently acts as the Jersey City representative on the Hackensack Meadowlands Municipal Committee and as a trustee on the Hudson County Schools of Technology. Additionally, she serves as Vice Chair for the Hudson County Democratic Association & as the Jersey City Democratic Municipal Chair, playing a vital role in local government. McCann Stamato also works in the healthcare industry and serves as an aide to Jersey City Councilman Yousef J. Saleh.
“My life journey and extensive career experience have provided me with the firsthand understanding of the issues facing residents in my district,” said Assemblywoman McCann Stamato (D-Hudson). “In my role as an Assemblywoman, I am eager to dedicate myself to tirelessly advocating for my constituents and crafting legislation that will enhance the lives of all New Jerseyans.”
McCann Stamato also served as a legislative aide in two Assembly district offices and as a former board member of the Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention.
She lives in Jersey City with her husband Patrick and enjoys spending time with her four children and five grandchildren.
