McKeon Calls for Full Public Accounting of NJ Transit Safety Violations

Assembly Judiciary Chairman John McKeon (D-Essex/Morris) released the following statement Sunday on reports about safety and operations violations at NJ Transit:

“During the past seven years NJ Transit has raised fares on commuters in historic proportions, but in turn we have learned through a news report that it has failed to deliver on what should be their number one concern – safety for its riders.
“This is outrageous and unacceptable.
‘I am calling on federal and state railroad officials to fully release their findings and detail all violations and their causes, whether they’ve been remedied and who is responsible for this mismanagement. The public deserves a full accounting.
“I will also be speaking to legislative leadership about potential legislative action.”
