McKeon on NJ Transit Funding in Budget Plan Approved by Assembly Panel

Assemblyman John F. McKeon (D-Essex) issued the following statement Monday following committee passage of the Legislature’s budget plan:

“Thousands of New Jerseyans rely on train and bus services every day. This year’s spending plan had to build upon our yearlong the efforts to fix the transit system. Supporting recent improvements and continued growth of services, the Legislature’s budget plan adds an additional $50 million to the Governor’s proposed funding for NJ Transit for a total of $75 million.

“This is right where the state needs to be in the next fiscal year. Our proposed spending plan is a fair, balanced and hits all the priorities of the legislature and those of the Governor without an extra tax burden.”
