McKeon on NJ Transit Funding Provisions in Budget Plan Up for a Vote in the Legislature Today

The Democratic Legislature’s budget works to meet the needs of all New Jersey residents. Assemblyman John F. McKeon (D-Essex) issued the following statement:

“Thousands of New Jerseyans rely on train and bus services every day. This year’s spending plan had to build upon our yearlong efforts to fix the transit system. Supporting recent improvements and continued growth of services, the Legislature’s budget plan adds an additional $50 million to the Governor’s proposed funding for NJ Transit for a total of $75 million.

“This is right where the state needs to be in the next fiscal year. Our proposed spending plan is a fair, balanced and hits all the priorities of the legislature and those of the Governor without an extra tax burden.”
