McKeon on Nomination of Pruitt as EPA Administrator

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex, Morris) released the following statement opposing the nomination of Scott Pruitt as U.S. Environmental chief:

“The nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to be the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency is extremely disturbing.

“Mr. Pruitt has been a leader of the climate change denying, fossil fuel industry wing of the Republican Party. His work on the public’s behalf has literally been ghost written by lobbyists and executives of the fossil fuel and energy companies.

“While President-Elect Trump has assembled his cabinet of Goldman Sachs executives and right-wing ideologues, Mr. Pruitt’s nomination to be in charge of safeguarding our nation’s land and water as well as fighting back against climate is just too much.

“At a time when our state, country and entire planet are threatened by human-caused climate change, nominating a mouthpiece of the fossil fuel industry to lead the EPA is simply reckless and wrong.”
