McKeon on the Appointment of New Firearms Enforcement Office Leadership

Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex, Morris) issued the following statement on the appointment of Ravi Ramanathan and Jeremy Ershow to lead the Statewide Affirmative Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Office:

“I applaud Acting Attorney General Matthew Platkin for appointing Ravi Ramanathan and Jeremy Ershow to serve as the Director and Deputy Director of the Statewide Affirmative Firearms Enforcement Office.

“For too long, gun violence has threatened communities across the country – including right here in New Jersey. Recent events only add to a long list of tragedies we as a nation have endured.

“I am proud that New Jersey continues to take action to limit the devastating impact of gun violence. The SAFE office is the first in the nation of its kind to be tasked with bringing members of the gun industry who recklessly disregard the well-being of New Jersey residents to justice. Empowered by the public nuisance law I sponsored, this office will play a critical role in holding this industry accountable for their part in the increasing gun violence.

“I look forward to seeing what SAFE is able to accomplish.”
