McKeon Praises Gov. Murphy’s Pick for Chairman of the Highlands Council

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex/Morris) issued the following statement applauding Gov. Murphy’s appointment of Carl Richko as Chairman of the Highlands Council:

“Governor Murphy made an excellent decision in selecting Carl Richko to serve as Chairman of the Highlands Council.

“For the last 8 years, Mr. Richko has served on the Council admirably, and has been a longtime public servant, teaching in Morris County for 36 years and serving as the former Mayor of West Milford, where he has resided for the past 56 years.

“He has a long history of environmental advocacy and I am certain he will do everything in his power to protect the resources of the highlands, most notably by safeguarding the drinking water for over half of our state’s residents.

“I am confident that he will help reverse the rollbacks and disastrous environmental policy which negatively impacted New Jersey under Governor Christie.

“Mr. Richko will be the environmental champion the Council demands.”
