McKeon Statement on NJ Climate Change Report

Assemblyman John McKeon (D-Essex, Morris) issued the following statement on the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) releasing its first scientific report on climate change:

“Public health and the social and economic prosperity of our communities relies on our ability to make real and tangible progress toward our environmental goals.

“The DEP’s report, to be followed up by a forthcoming response plan, shows a demonstrated commitment by the State to ensure climate action in New Jersey is guided by science and facts.

“Boasting a diverse range of forests, wetlands, mountains and farmland in New Jersey, the report also helps to ensure our public policy remains informed by our unique geography.

“With this blueprint, I am optimistic we can craft a strategic and targeted climate change mitigation plan able to safeguard New Jersey’s environmental future.”
