McKeon Statement on Testimony by Former FBI Director James Comey on President Trump & Russia Investigation

(TRENTON) – Assembly Judiciary Committee Chairman John F. McKeon (D-Essex/Morris) issued the following statement Thursday addressing testimony by former FBI Director James Comey concerning President Trump and the Russia investigation:

“President Donald J. Trump demands loyalty; the American people demand an independent investigation. It’s as simple as that and I hope that Congress agrees. If not, we need to replace those who don’t. If what Director Comey is testifying is true and the President was attempting to interfere with a federal investigation, we need to hold the White House responsible. This isn’t simply about the people involved, this is about the integrity of our systems of justice and the moral fiber of our nation.”
