McKnight & Chiaravalloti Announce First-term Legislative Committee Appointments

(TRENTON) – First-term Assembly Democrats Angela V. McKnight and Nicholas A. Chiaravalloti announce their committee assignments for the 217th legislative session.
Both Assembly members took their oath of office on January 12 to represent the 31st Legislative District. They were among ten first-term democrats to take their oaths.

“It is an honor to have Angela and Nicholas on board this legislative session,” Speaker Prieto (D-Hudson). “I am confident their professional and community expertise will become an asset to the committees they serve.”

McKnight has been appointed to serve on three committees: Education, Health and Senior Services and Human Services. She is the Founder & CEO of AngelaCARES, Inc., a non-profit organization she founded to advocate for senior citizens, their caregivers, and mentor youth.

“It will be an honor to serve on these very important committees,” said McKnight, who is the first African American woman Assembly representative in Hudson County. “Each committee falls right in line with the work I have been doing on behalf of my non-profit. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and on behalf of all residents in the state.”

Chiaravalloti has been appointed to serve on the Assembly Commerce and Transportation Committees.

“I thank the Speaker for assigning me to the Assembly Commerce and Transportation committees,” said Chiaravalloti. “It will be very interesting to begin my term tackling residents’ business and transportation concerns. We have a lot of work to do this session. I look forward to working with my colleagues and getting things done for New Jersey residents.”

Chiaravalloti is an attorney with the Law Firm of Weiner-Lesniak and works part-time at Saint Peter’s University as Director of Community Engagement.

The 31st District covers Bayonne and Jersey City.
