McKnight Named Vice Chair of Assembly Women & Children Committee

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Angela McKnight has been named vice chairwoman of the Assembly Women and Children Committee by Speaker Craig Coughlin.

The committee handles issues concerning the status of women and families and the welfare of children in the state. McKnight joins Assemblywoman Gabriela Mosquera who chairs the committee.

“I am excited to have been chosen for this leadership position. This committee has been a strong advocate for women and children, and has spearheaded legislation to help address important issues, such as the dangers of bed-sharing with infants, and established protections for domestic violence victims and children. I am honored to be a part of it,” said McKnight (D-Hudson). “A lot of my personal work is focused on improving conditions for some of our most vulnerable populations, and I look forward to bringing this experience to the committee and working with Asw. Mosquera on policies that will help make life better for the women and children in our state.”

McKnight, who has represented the 31st legislative district in the Assembly since 2016, will also serve on the Assembly Higher Education Committee.

McKnight is the Founder & CEO of the nonprofit organization, AngelaCARES, Inc., which is headquartered in Jersey City, NJ. The organization’s mission is to serve as an advocate and support system for senior citizens, their caregivers, and a mentor to the youth by educating and empowering them to volunteer. In addition to running AngelaCARES, Inc., McKnight is also the owner of Care About You, LLC., which provides consultant services for the elderly population, and conducts speaking engagements, training, mentoring and business consulting as “The Carepreneur.”
