McKnight to Promote Financial Literacy Among Youth of Jersey City, Bayonne

Assemblywoman to Read The Kiddie Coin Kids to Students in Legislative District 31

Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight will visit Jersey City and Bayonne schools during November to read to students and promote financial literacy among children.

McKnight, lead sponsor of legislation (A-3396) that would require financial literacy instruction for pupils enrolled in grades kindergarten through eight, will read The Kiddie Coin Kids. The book aims to educate children about the value of money.

“One of the most important lessons a person can learn is how to manage their money. Many young people go into adulthood knowing little about finances, and end up making decisions that cost them in the long run,” said McKnight (D-Hudson), who sits on the Assembly Education Committee. “Teaching our kids early about the importance of managing their money and making sound financial decisions can prevent them from making costly mistakes and set them on the right financial path.”

McKnight has scheduled the following visits. Visits will begin at 9:30 a.m.:

Thursday, Nov. 3: Dr. Maya Angelou School (PS 20), 239 Ocean Ave., Jersey City

Friday, Nov. 4: Martin Center for the Arts (PS 41), 59 Wilkinson Ave., Jersey City
